Throughout summer, CCG hosts a car meet up on the first Sunday of the month. I tag along with Chicago Car Life to enjoy the day, get out of the house, and take pictures that I normally wouldn’t take. I always find it a challenge taking pictures of cars, as I never know how to frame them.
For many of these shots I borrowed Chicago Car Life’s 35mm DX 1.8 lens. What I really enjoyed about the 35mm DX was that it was meant for a crop sensor camera. Looking through the lens you see the auto focus area, but then just surrounding that is the box you use to frame the picture. These two sensors really helped me to frame the pictures in a way that I hadn’t thought of before.
Also, along with using a wider lens, his 35mm has a polarizer filter. I had one a long time ago when I used film, but I hardly remember how amazing it can be, especially when shooting cars. Along with bracketing, I felt that it was much easier shooting cars than many of the other times I have had in the past.
