Trapping in Michigan

On Saturday night I attended a wedding with my girlfriend and her family. After we got home, my girlfriend’s father asked if I wanted to go trapping with him in the morning. I had no idea what trapping entailed, but wanting to bond with him I said that I would love to come and take pictures.

He took me to a few spots throughout the morning. He has to check the traps every day. He stated that a lot of the places he used to set traps at are now residential areas. With economic growth in Michigan, a lot of people are building houses. There are a lot of new subdivisions being created, and that’s taking away from a lot of land where muskrats tend to be.

Overall, I feel that the pictures came out well. I wish I had better angles, but I didn’t have the proper equipment to be in the water. I had to stay by the banks of ponds and runoffs. Color is still a concern when I’m taking pictures. I know the sun was rising throughout the time we were out, so the changes in color start to vary.

Some Sunday mornings you just have to follow your gut and bring a camera.
