I was given access to hang out with Lust Detector as they were working on their new music. While they were jamming out I tried to take a few shots using my flash. I bounced the flash around the room to get the least amount of shadowing I could.

After their jam-out, we walked around the building to see if there were any spots worth taking pictures. We made the best with what we had and tried to stick to the lighting that was given to us. I felt that using the natural lighting look was better for their style of music.

The biggest challenge of the day was lighting. In some occasions I did use my flash by bouncing it off the walls or ceilings so I wouldn’t get heavy shadows behind the band.

In the end my thought was, “work with what you got.” Instead of panicking for not getting the right lighting, I just looked at my situation and tried to make the adjustment I thought were necessary. Either it was adding flash, bouncing flash, bumping up the ISO, or just using what lighting I had available and letting the shadows fall where they may.
