This past Saturday I had the honor of photographing Future Rootz launch of their Record Label at Co-Prosperity Sphere in Bronzeville. The evening started off with Future Rootz DJs spinning tons of Cumbia and Latino music.
The first artist signed to the Future Rootz label is Beats Y Bateria. Their music is beautiful! There was a great fusion of drums and electronic beats with flamenco and Arabic melodies. Their music is such an amazing contribution to the eclectic Chicago music scene.
I brought my SB-700 flash and used the rear shutter option. I wanted to capture the ambient lighting and wanted to make sure that I was not overpowering the light from the projector. I bounced the flash off the ceiling for most of the shots, sometimes changing over to a wall, depending on the angle.
Future Roots had a wonderful variety of vendors and guests.
The evening was closed out by Jose Marquez spinning beautiful beats.
