On a fairly miserable day of gloom and rain, Jax and I decided to play pool at Surge Coffee Bar & Billiards.
The first couple of shots (not shown) I tried using different white balance settings to see what would work best at Surge. There were different light sources with different color temperatures. I have yet to figure out color temperatures so I generally try to use some of the different settings. I initially tried using the incandescent light setting, but the colors were off, then I tried the fluorescent light setting. Each setting still colored the pictures drastically, so I switched back to auto white balance (AWB).
Though you are able to make adjustments to the white balance, I still have a difficult time trying to master that function. Also, because I was shooting on the fly and switching positions where there are different lighting sources depending on the direction I was facing, I ended up using AWB.

What I loved about the location was that there were different light sources, and that was part of the challenge. Above the tables are fluorescent lights, along the walls are incandescent lights and the front of the building had natural lighting.
Photo Editing
Due to the lighting being a challenge, I needed to do some color correction on the pictures. I don’t have special software to do my editing with, so this part has been a struggle. I normally want to post the raw photo, but I know that it doesn’t translate well. I try to keep the editing to a minimum for now.
I hope that in the future I’ll be able to learn more about editing and incorporate it into photography.
