Curtis Institute of Music – Day 1

It is the first day of camp at Curtis Institute of Music. As the students are preparing for their auditions, I tried to capture some of the moments before their auditions.

Lighting will get you every time if you allow it. I decided to shoot in aperture priority to since there was a lot of changing in the lighting. I am always so shocked at how intelligent the D750 is. Having it set to the aperture priority mode made the experience less stressful. Only a few of the shots did I have to use exposure compensation for, mainly any picture that was backlit.

While I am generally happy with my composition with this set of pictures, I still need to find a photo editor. I am not completely happy with the colors in the pictures. I know that this is mainly due to the photo editing software that I’ve been using.

Some of the pictures also didn’t come out as sharp as I had hoped. Part of that focusing issues were due to the setting that I was using, and some were due to the distance of where I was, especially with the pictures that were backlit.

I’m going to continue to try to use aperture priority more often, and I hope to be more mindful of which autofocus setting I’m using.

Let me know down below your thoughts on using aperture priority or even shutter speed priority. Also, which photo editors do you use? Are you importing your files to a computer, or do you do your editing on your phone?
