Maeve Lemus

While in Philadelphia, Maeve and I ran around Rittenhouse Square area to pull off some headshots so that she could use to update some of her business sites.

We decided to try to see if we could take some shots at Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center for The Performing Arts in Philadelphia. We were there a day earlier and found some backgrounds that would work for headshots. Unfortunately, many of the spots we wanted to go to were closed off at the time. We were told to check out the basement.

A bit confused, we decided to check it out. We did not think that there could be anything worthwhile, but we were wrong. Pictures three and four were taken in the basement.

As you can see there is a silhouette of a violin behind Maeve. The violin is encased in a spider web that is hanging from the ceiling. I positioned Maeve just in front of it and due to the lighting, bounced the flash off of the ceiling.

In the fourth picture you can see thin sheets hanging from the ceiling. We used it in the background to give it some texture.

I was really impressed by how well the light bounced while using my Nikon SB-700. I had it set to manual mode and kept it at 1/4th power. Overall, I love the shots based on the fact that we just did a run and gun session.

Maeve Lemus began her musical career at the age of 6. For the majority of her childhood, she studied under Daniela Gongora. During the summer of 2008, Maeve made her international performance debut performing as a soloist with the Pallotti School of Music in Belize.

In 2010, Maeve was accepted into the Sphinx Performance Academy summer string program: an intensive string camp designed for young black and Latino string players. She received private lessons from members of the world-renowned Catalyst Quartet and Resident Quartet at the SPA camp and had the opportunity to perform in masterclasses given by Rachel Barton Pine.

In May of 2016, Maeve Lemus graduated from Rhode Island College with a Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in Music Performance. During her four years as an undergrad, Maeve studied with John Sumerlin.
