Yessica Alvarez is a first-generation immigrant from Indeparapeo, Mexico with a degree in Masters of Social Work, with a concentration in vulnerable populations. Yessica currently works as a 1st-grade teacher in downtown Chicago but shares enthusiasm to pursue a Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) to return to the field of social work.

Yessica Alvarez has a passion for social advocacy and has worked with numerous of agencies, The Illinois Coalition for Immigration and Refugee Rights and United We Dream, where she advocated for affordable housing, immigration rights, re-entry projects for previously incarcerated individuals and a fair refugee protection program in the United States.
Yessica is a daughter, sister, and mom to two active dogs. In her free time enjoys hiking and outdoor activities with her two dogs. She is a well-rounded individual with great ambition, who lives with passion and grace.
