With just a moment’s notice, Laura and I got together to do a quick photoshoot for a website that she is building as a personal resume. Laura is currently working on a master of leadership in higher education through the ENLACE program at Northeastern Illinois University. While much of her research has been on student development theories, she is beginning to turn her focus towards CripTheory. This theory focuses on ableism and ways institutions can be more inclusive and accessible to all types of people.
Laura is also a mother to an amazing daughter who loves to dance. Laura is a positive role model, supportive and nurturing in her daughter’s life. Through her sheer presence, Laura is showing her daughter how to be a proud Latina.

I am really enjoying getting to know Laura. I really love seeing her confidence grow as she continually masters the classes she is taking. She is really great at analyzing practice and placing it with theory. Every time I see her I see a new side of her personality.
