The Andersons

The Anderson Family sometimes screams and sometimes meditates. This quarantine has NOT changed who we are. We still do those things but we are finding a balance. We are very happy together (some of us). Some of us are getting tired of the other people (my brother is tiring). We do wish that this quarantine would end soon but we are also grateful to be healthy and happy because not everyone has that.

Harper

On an afternoon just before an LSC meeting, the principal of the school pulled me into his office and told me that for the moment they didn’t have money in the budget for my position for the following year. I was on the LSC, so I had to attend the meeting, and sit in front of the entire audience along with everyone else on the board.

as the information was slowly trickling out at the meeting, my phone started blowing up! I started to receive text messages from two numbers that I had no idea who they belong to. I have the phone under the table so no one can really see me, I pick up to try to see if I can recognize anybody typing away on their phone. A moment later, I lock eyes with two mothers. Both their daughters are in kindergarten, and they’re planning to be in my classroom the following year. They kept asking me if I was going to be losing my job. I tried not to answer, but after being bombarded by the two of them, I looked up and them and just nodded yes.

They furiously typed away at their phone messaging me letting me know that there was no way they were going to let me lose my job. In the most loving way possible, I was totally intimidated by them at that moment.

One of those mothers was Amanda. Never underestimate the power of a mother.

Kevin, Grayson, and Harper are some of the funniest kids I’ve ever met. The best thing about their humor is that it is just completely natural. They just have this really amazing comedic timing. Both Gavin and Harper were in my classroom. Both extremely different, but both so amazing. Though Grayson was never in my class, I would always talk to him during recess and in the hallways.

The andersons have had such an extreme impact in my life. They are one of the families that truly made me fall in love with Drummond, and CPS.
