Linda and Ella are a small family living in Wicker Park. They have lived there for almost 17 years. Ella is a young aspiring musician/actress and Linda works at her best friend’s gift shop in Westtown.
Ella, 17
Ella Was recently cast in a show called Red Island, with collaboration Theatre Company That had to be postponed and might’ve missed an opportunity to perform at Lollapalooza this year, But she’s hoping that once this passes other opportunities will arise. Instead of being sad that she is missing out on everything she was looking forward to for this spring/summer she is working on her craft during her time at home.
It’s always interesting to understand what we choose to remember. One of the greatest things that I enjoy about doing these portraits is getting to have a conversation with the people I haven’t seen in a while.
Catching up with Ella and Linda was a lot of fun. Ella had told me how much she found her elementary school to be difficult, but then I told her all these stories about how I felt about how she was in school. It’s about putting things into perspective, and when you’re young you don’t necessarily know how to do that.
It’s been amazing to see Ella grow up and become a superstar. Just before the pandemic, she was scheduled to play Lollapalooza. I’m not one to believe that things happen for a reason, so I’m not going to say that here. But I know that if Ella was offered that opportunity, only better opportunities will come her way.
